UK Home Extension Series

The home extension is often regarded as the bread and butter of residential architecture: familiar, straightforward, perhaps even a little ordinary. Too often, it is reduced to “a box on the back of a house.”

These are all ideas that we completely reject.

Extensions are the backbone of UK residential architecture. They are never simply an exercise in adding space; they sit at an interesting intersection between commercial viability, a better way of living, and the wish to create or remain somewhere that feels like home.

Every house has its own character, proportions, history and quirks, and every client their own needs and aesthetic ambitions. Architecture should consider and respond to both. Sometimes that means contrast; sometimes continuity. Sometimes a bold intervention, sometimes something quiet and carefully integrated.

Each project demands its own care, attention and response. No two should be the same, and that is why we love them.
