Breezy Hill
Breezy Hill
In Design Development
Set within the upland landscape of East Ayrshire, where forest meets reservoir, Breezy Hill proposes a new community, visitor and leisure destination.
Site analysis, feasibility studies and concept development were undertaken alongside a programme of community engagement and public consultation. The masterplan transforms the wider land into a landscape for people: trails, outdoor sports, allotments, and a beach deck reaching out to the water. For the building, concepts ranging from biomimicry to submersion, split levels to cascading mass were explored, each asking the same question: how does a building belong here?
The resulting proposal brings together arrival and orientation, exhibition, community space, café-restaurant, indoor sports amenities, and watersports access in a single cohesive form. Timber, glass and stone anchor the building to its surroundings, while green roofs and solar panels thread sustainability into the fabric of the design.
